Extracurricular French Classes

History Workshop



This exciting workshop focuses on introducing students to French history through conversation, films, documentaries and current events.

The History Workshop is best suited for French background speakers (ie: students who were enrolled in the Francophone stream at KHPS) from Year 7 and up.

The Workshop teaching is organised over 2 years.

Part 1:  Students learn about the French Revolution, the Industrial Revolution, the early French Republics and French Colonisation.
Taught on even years (2024).

Part 2:  Students learn about the two World Wars, the Cold War and Decolonisation.
Taught on odd years (2025).


Wednesdays from 4:30pm to 6:00pm
 

Classes are held at the Forestville Community Arts Centre. 

Workshop classes are invoiced per term (2025 fee to be confirmed), and an annual commitment is requested.

News and Current Affairs Workshop


 

This new workshop aims to develop students' critical thinking skills by discussing the world we live in.

Topics discussed will cover France 5th Republique and the Presidential elections, how the European Union came about, the place of France in the current francophone world, the current migration crisis in Europe, and past and current world conflicts.

This workshop is created for French background speakers (students who were enrolled in the Francophone stream at KHPS) from Year 7 and up, but is recommended for mature students due to its content.

The workshop will be delivered through conversation, films, documentaries, and current news. 




Tuesdays from 4:00pm to 6:00pm
 

Classes are held at the Forestville Community Arts Centre. 

Workshop classes are invoiced per term (2025 fee to be confirmed), and an annual commitment is requested.

DELF Junior exam preparation classes 

High school students will develop listening, writing and speaking skills to prepare for the DELF exams.  

The DELF, Dipl么me d'Etudes en Langue Fran莽aise, is a diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education, via France Education International.

This diploma is internationally recognised, is valid for life, and opens a vast array of opportunities to study in French-speaking universities around the world.

A select number of Australian universities will accept your DELF diploma and positively adjust your ATAR result to improve your selection ranking.
